I have a lifted 2016 Platinum el that gets roughly 14 city and 19 highway. It just so happened that the other drivers noticed I was in trouble. I have had several incident's where I have almost hit parked cars in parking lots, stalls in the middle of intersection. I was far enough out of the parking spot to go forward by this point. Starts just fine the next morning to take the kids to school approx 1 mile round trip and then won't start that afternooon when it's time to pick the kids up from school. When called and asked for paperwork advised there was none. With over 200 complaints I think something should be done before someone is seriously injured from this defect by Ford.
This has happened several times and seems to be happening more often now. This was mentioned a number of times to the dealer with the same explanation. Local mechanic claimed it to be a fuel filter problem. I could have been killed!!! But there is another sort of fuel transfer pump in the gas tank to get gas from the right side of the tank to the left side of the same tank. The problem is much worse when hot out and air conditioning is on high. There is no Schrader valve to attach a pressure gauge. Search this forum, I believe there are a couple of threads concerning this issue.
We use data about you for a number of purposes explained in the links below. I then shut the vehicle off and when I started upon leaving the cemetery the vehicle started this again. I replaced the battery and the problem disappeared. The vehicle purportedly had a 19 gallon fuel tank, but even with the info center indicating only 10 miles to empty, I was never able to add more than 16. If you don't have your foot hard on the brake when putting it into gear, and if there was a person or a vehicle in front or behind you, you would hit them. I prayed all the way home and did not drive over 60 mph. The procedure I have in mind is to remove the upstream connector of the fuel filter and make up an adaptor of sorts to fit a pressure gauge into the line on a temporary basis. Why isn't Ford doing anything about this? I put the vehicle in drive and went forward out of the parking lot. Gary Based on experiences with the 2007 Ford Freestyle that the Expedition replaced, I suspect the issue has to do with usable fuel versus actual capacity of the tank. I just had this problem on my 2006 Limited.
I immediately began to lose speed. Fuel does get transferred from one side of the tank to the other. There is a facebook page dedicated to people in my position. This seemed to work for a while then the same problems kept occurring. I'm a network administrator and have to apply software updates all the time. I am thinking I will exercise my free will to get rid of this vehicle for a Kia or Hyundai model that I can trust.
Fill ups usually show me 470-510 miles to empty. As a test, I've then immediately turned it off and then tried starting it again and it starts no problem. Problem returned 2 days later without engine code. Both drivers put their hazard lights on and slowed traffic enabling me to steer the car with no power to the shoulder. While driving today with the family children included down the freeway the vehicle stopped accelerating in the center of heavy traffic.
Had mechanic change filter, problem resolved for very short time period. The transmission and engine lights come on. Several close misses of rearending someone due to this issue. So for my first trick I want to fix a minor naggle that has upsett me for the last 10 years, and I am hoping someone on here can help. If the engine still fails to start, press the accelerator to the floor and try again; this will allow the engine to crank with the fuel shut off in case the engine is flooded with fuel. Ford knows about this and there is no recall. Have learned it is the throttle body.
Why did you change the fuel pump and did that fix the problem? This rev of the engine last approximately 1 second and then the car returns to normal idol speed. Freestyle is hard to start after sitting for a day. Called local dealer to look into having vehicle checked. Would restart, run a few minutes and cut off again. Is it possible with forscan to reprogram the value used to be more realistic? It will rev like that and idle down a few times and then the engine will stall.
All depends on your driving style. Some universal fuel pressure test kit instructions have non Schrader systems actually cut the fuel line to insert a 'T' in order to attach the gauge. We are having to be very careful when driving the car, because of this dangerous situation. This creates a dangerous situation in which if you do not anticipate the acceleration you could have an accident. The vehicle purportedly had a 19 gallon fuel tank, but even with the info center indicating only 10 miles to empty, I was never able to add more than 16. It is an safety issue and Ford has known about it for sometime.
